It’s been a busy week for the NHL off-season, and with free agency officially beginning yesterday it’s only going to get crazier from here. Let’s check out some of the notable names in the news right now.

The Red Wings and defenseman Mike Green agreed to terms yesterday on a three-year, $18 million deal.
This is a great signing for Detroit, who was in need of scoring on the right side of their defenders. Green was good for the Capitals last year, logging 10 goals and 35 assists in his 72 games.
He’ll likely end up in the second pairing and may end up a major contributor on the power play.

The Canucks added some goaltending depth yesterday, inking Richard Bachman to a two-year deal.
Bachman managed a 3-2-0 record with a 2.84 GAA in his seven appearances with Edmonton last year.

The Rangers inked up 25-year-old center Matt Lindblad yesterday. He posted 22 points in his 47 appearances on AHL Providence in 2014-15.
This is a good depth move for New York. Lindblad will serve as a nice insurance player there.

The Predators inked defenseman Barret Jackman on a two-year deal yesterday. That contract is worth $4 million.
Jackman played 12 years in St. Louis, so it’ll be weird seeing him in a different uniform. He’ll serve as an agitator and an experienced presence on the blue line for Nashville.

The Leafs inked up RW P.A. Parenteau yesterday. He’s there on a one-year contract.
Parenteau’s contract was bought out by the Canadiens; he logged 22 points in 56 appearances last year and will try to put up some better numbers in Toronto.
