NHL Daily Updates: Checking in on the Latest News, Daily Schedule and More
October 7, 2015
Today’s the day. The 2015-16 NHL regular season will get started tonight, so it won’t be too hard to get your hockey fix for the next several months. Let’s take a look at some of the headlines out there right now.
Yesterday, we got an update on the status of winger Pascal Dupuis, and it’s not good news.
Dupuis will miss the next 4-5 weeks thanks to his lower body injury. Penguins fans should be used to this, however, as he’s played just 55 games in the last two years.

The Devils’ Kyle Palmieri was suffering from an undisclosed injury earlier in the week, but he’s since returned to practice. He should be okay for the team’s opener.
Sources close to the Hurricanes believe that Eddie Lack has a good chance to claim the starting goaltender job this year. He’ll begin the season as the team’s No. 2, but since Cam Ward is in the last year of his contract, and the team could pull him if he has difficulties early.
Lack will be making $2.75 million against the cap in each of the next two seasons, which is a bargain price for a starting goalie.
The Bruins’ Zdeno Chara was able to get back on the ice for practice yesterday, which is a good sign in his recovery from that upper-body injury.
Chara says he’s day-to-day and seems markedly better than when he was first injured in late September.
The Kings’ Jake Muzzin is nearing full health, but he’s reportedly still doubtful for the team’s first game.
Muzzin is getting over an upper-body issue.
Good news for the Ducks’ Jakob Silfverberg. He’s gained clearance to rejoin practice with his teammates following a head injury he sustained in a preseason game this past Saturday.
