We’re entering our first weekend of action in the 2015-16 NHL season, and there’s plenty more hockey to look forward to over the next couple of days. While we’re waiting for game-time, let’s check out some of the notable players and situations out there. Here’s the latest.
Blake Wheeler, RW, Winnipeg Jets: The Jets are starting out the season on a road trip, and they may want to stay there. Wheeler and Andrew Ladd each had a goal and an assist last night in New Jersey at Prudential Center, helping the team to a 3-1 win over the devils.
Michael Hutchinson logged 20 saves on defense, helping the team move to 2-0-0 with two straight road wins.

Henrik Lundqvist, G, New York Rangers: The Rangers are also 2-0-0, following a stunning victory in Columbus at Nationwide Arena against the Blue Jackets.
Columbus was up with less than four minutes left before the Rangers stuffed in three goals in just 1:17. The game would end 4-2 in favor of New York.
Lundqvist allowed two goals on 33 shots, while Kevin Hayes managed the game-winner.
Justin Abdelkader, LW, Detroit Red Wings: Abdelkader had a great game last night in Detroit at Joe Lewis Arena. He managed his second career NHL hat trick, helping his team shut out the Maple Leafs 4-0.
Dylan Larkin had the other goal and a save, while Jimmy Howard stood tall in the net with 22 saves in his shutout (the 21st of his career).
Patrick Kane, RW, Chicago Blackhawks: After dropping their first game, the defending champion Blackhawks bounced back with an overtime victory against the Islanders in New York.
Kane managed the game-winning goal on a power play at the 1:49 mark in overtime. Duncan Keith also contributed with two assists, while Corey Crawford logged 34 saves.
