NHL Daily Updates: Checking in on the Latest News, Daily Schedule and More
October 11, 2015
We’re coming off a pretty intense NHL evening, and we’ve got just one more game coming tonight. While we’re getting set for that one, let’s check out the headlines from around the league in our daily wrap-up.
Ben Bishop, G, Tampa Bay Lightning: The Lightning got contributions from all over the place yesterday, taking a nice 4-1 win over the Sabres at First Niagara Center.
Bishop logged 24 saves on 25 shots in the victory, and Nikita Kucherov posted the eventual game-winner late in the second.
Tampa Bay is 2-0-0 thus far and looking to repeat last year’s run.

Lars Eller, C, Montreal Canadiens: The Canadiens forwards are developing some nice chemistry in the early-going this season. Eller bagged a pair of goals in Montreal’s 4-2 win over the Bruins yesterday, and Alex Galchenyuk managed three assists. Alexander Semin posted a pair of assists as well.
That pushes the Canadiens to 2-0-0 thus far after a season-opening win against the Maple Leafs.
Alex Ovechkin, LW, Washington Capitals: The Capitals have learned that they can rely on Ovechkin in high-intensity situations, and he was there to help the team out last night against the Bruins.
Ovechkin logged a goal and an assist in the 5-3 victory, with his score breaking a third-period tie. Jason Chimera also played well with a goal and an assist.
That gives the Devils an 0-2-0 record in the early going after dropping their opener.
Henrik Lundqvist, G, New York Rangers: The Rangers stayed hot last night against the Blue Jackets, and they’re now a perfect 3-0-0 on the year so far. Lundqvist posted 37 saves on 39 shots in the 5-2 victory, while rookie center Oscar Lindberg put up a pair of goals.
This is the first time the Rangers have started 3-0-0 since 2008. Lundqvist is holding a .943 save percentage thus far.
