TV:

We’ve got a pretty busy evening of NHL hockey to look forward to, as there are eight games on the schedule tonight. While we’re waiting on those, let’s check out some of the notable players and stats in the headlines today.

Erik Karlsson, D, Ottawa Senators: The Blue Jackets must have felt pretty good with a 3-2 lead over the Senators early in the second period of last night’s game. That feeling quickly deflated, however, as Ottawa scored five straight goals to win it 7-3.
Karlsson posted four assists, and Mika Zibanejad logged a goal and two helpers.
Columbus is now 0-4-0, which is the worst start in their 15-year history as a franchise. It’s a far cry from their 15-1-1 finish at the end of last season.

Michal Neuvirth, G, Philadelphia Flyers: Neuvirth was on point last night, and he helped boost the Flyers to a 3-0 shutout win over the Blackhawks last night. He’d come up with 30 saves, including a few very big ones.
Claude Giroux, Sam Gagner and Matt Read scored the goals for Philly, who moves to 2-1-1 on the year.
The Blackhawks fall to 2-2-0.

Jimmy Hayes, RW, Boston Bruins: Hayes was a busy guy last night in Denver against the Avalanche at Pepsi Center. He came up with a goal and three assists in the Bruins’ 6-2 win, while teammate Ryan Spooner posted a score and a helper of his own.
This is a nice turnaround for Boston, who was outscored 16-7 in their three games at TD Garden.
The loss drops the Avs to 1-2-0 thus far.

Anthony Duclair, LW, Arizona Coyotes: It was a big evening for rookie winger Duclair. He came up with his first career hat trick last night in a 4-0 win over the Ducks at Honda Center.
Mike Smith anchored the defense with 37 saves, and Max Domi logged a goal and an assist to round out a nice effort by the team.
The Coyotes are now 3-0-0 for the first time since 2003.
