The Edmonton Oilers head to the Scotiabank Saddledome to take the ice with the Calgary Flames.
The Edmonton Oilers are looking to bounce back from a 4-2 defeat at the hands of visiting St Louis on Thursday night. The Oilers are glad to get rid of the Blues who have defeated the Oilers eight times in a row. The Blues received goals from Vladimir Tarasenko, Alexander Steen, Jori Lehtera and Paul Stasny while Brian Elliot made it stand up with a 26 save performance to log his third victory. Edmonton saw Lauri Korpikoski and Taylor Hall light the lamp which fell short with Cam Talbot recording 25 stops in absorbing the loss.

The Calgary Flames will try to find their offense when the Edmonton Oilers visit Saturday. None could be found in Friday’s 3-1 defeat at Winnipeg in the Jets home opener. This was a 1-1 contest until Dustin Byfuglien scored with 1:28 left in regulation with Blake Wheeler finding the empty net. Bryan Little scored in the second and Kari Ramo made the support stand up with a 27 save performance. The Flames took an early lead in the opening frame on Mikael Backlund’s goal just over 3 ½ minutes in while Ondrej Pavelec was the victim of poor support with a pair of goals scored on 21 shots.
The Oilers are 9-45 in their last 54 vs. Western Conference and are 12-52 in their last 64 vs. Pacific and are 1-4 in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of less than .400. The over is 5-0 in Flames last 5 home games and the Flames are 1-4 in their last 5 vs. Western Conference while going 1-4 in their last 5 overall. The over is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings in Calgary and the road team is 9-3 in the last 12 meetings while the Oilers are 9-24-1 in the last 34 meetings in Calgary.
Right now I have a slight lean to Calgary until netminders are named…
