October 25, 2015
After a stuffed NHL schedule last night, the league is taking its foot off the gas today, with just three matchups on tap. Before we settle in for those, let’s take a look at a few of the headline-making players out there.
Jared Spurgeon, D, Minnesota Wild: Spurgeon and the Wild were playing well last night against the Ducks at Xcel Energy Center. The defenseman posted two assists in his team’s 3-0 shutout victory. Mikko Koivu had an assist and Ryan Carter scored in the game, bringing the Wild’s record to 5-1-1.
As for the Ducks, it was their fourth time being shut out in just seven games.

Carey Price, G, Montreal Canadiens: Price was a busy guy last night against the Maple Leafs, but the result was worth it. He came up with 49 saves on 52 shots in a 5-3 win for the team’s ninth straight victory, which is an NHL record for a regulation win streak to start the season.
P.K. Subban and Max Pacioretty provided the offense, with a goal and an assist each.
Steve Mason, G, Philadelphia Flyers: Mason and the Flyers came out on top during a shootout win over the Rangers last night in Philly. He came up with 37 saves on 39 shots in the 3-2 victory, with Claude Giroux posting the deciding goal in the shootout.
That brings the Flyers to 4-2-1 on the season, while the Rangers fall to 5-2-2. Both teams came out with new injuries, as Michael Raffl and Viktor Stalberg both were removed from the game after being hurt.
Al Montoya, G, Florida Panthers: No. 2 goalie Montoya came up with 33 saves last night against the Stars, guiding his team to a 6-2 win at American Airlines Center. Jaromi Jagr and Nick Bjugstad each had a goal and an assist for the Panthers, who move to 4-3-1 and have finished their three-game road trip.
The Stars’ five-game win streak comes to an end; they sit at 6-2-0 on the year. Jamie Benn scored twice in this one.
