After a couple of relatively calm days on the ice, the NHL is back this evening with 10 matchups on the schedule. In the meantime, let’s take our daily look at the headlines and see who’s making news out there.

Jaroslav Halak, G, New York Islanders: It looks like Halak is healthy and back to 100 percent following his upper-body injury this preseason. He made 29 saves last night in another strong start, helping the Isles to a 4-0 shutout win over the Flames at Barclays Center.
Frans Nielsen bagged two goals in this one, while Nikolay Kulemin and Kyle Okposo each managed a pair of assists.
Halak is now 3-1-0 on the year, with a 1.76 GAA and a .940 save percentage. Overall, the Islanders are 6-2-1 thus far.

Kyle Chipchura, C, Arizona Coyotes: We had a pretty tight game in Toronto last night at Air Canada Centre between the Coyotes and Maple Leafs. Arizona came out on top 4-3, withstanding two late goals from Toronto that closed the gap and made it a one-goal game.
Chipchura put up a goal and an assist here, while Oliver Ekman-Larsson logged two assists and five shots on goal.
Rookie Max Domi also scored; he’s got 10 points in his first nine NHL games.
With the win, the Coyotes move to 5-3-1, while the Leafs fall to 1-5-2.

Jonathan Toews, C, Chicago Blackhawks: Toews bagged the game-winning overtime goal last night at United Center, giving the Blackhawks a 1-0 shutout win over the struggling Ducks.
Corey Crawford picked up 39 saves in his effort, while his counterpart Frederik Andersen put up 23 saves on 24 shots.
The Ducks are 1-5-2, which is the worst start in franchise history. They’ve scored just six goals in eight games and have been shut out five times--that’s one more than all of last year.
