The Toronto Maple Leafs slow start to the season continues in a 4-3 loss to visiting Arizona on Monday night. The Leafs fell to 1-5-2 on the year with goals coming from Shaw n Mathias, James van Riemsdyk and Nazem Kadri but James Reimer was unable to keep the puck out of the net with all four goal scored on 24 shots as the leafs fell to 0-2-1 on home ice. It was a far better night for the Coyotes who upped their record to 5-3-1 with consecutive victory. Rookie Max Domi scored his 4th goal of the season with Shane Doan, Klas Dahlbeck and Kyle Chipchura also lighting the lamp to make Mike Smith’s 24 saves hold up.

The defending President’s Cup winning New York Rangers are off to a great start as they improved to 6-2-2 in the early going after throttling the Calgary Flames 4-1 on Sunday. The Rangers actually trailed with Jiri Hudler lighting the lamp in the opening frame before scoring four straight times to force Flames netminder Jonas Hiller to the bench with Joni Ortio taking over. Oscar Lindberg, Dan Girardi gave New York the lead in the second before Kevin Klein and Derick Brasard. Antti Niemi was strong between the pipes with 23 saves in the win.
