Jakub Kindl, D, Detroit Red Wings: Kindl got to play the hero last night in the Hockey Hall of Fame Game at Air Canada Centre against the Maple Leafs. He scored 2:17 into overtime, giving his team a 2-1 victory.
This was Detroit’s third straight win. They now stand at 7-5-1 and have beaten Toronto (and former coach Mike Babcock) twice in two games this year.
The Leafs fall to 2-9-2.

Kyle Palmieri, RW, New Jersey Devils: The Devils proved to be too much for the defending champion Blackhawks last night at Prudential Center, taking the game 4-2 and dropping Chicago to 7-6-1 on the year.
Palmieri had a goal and an assist, as did Lee Stempniak and Travis Zajac. Cory Schneider put up 27 saves for the Devils, who move to 7-5-1 on the season.

Henrik Lundqvist, G, New York Rangers: The Rangers are now in first place in the Metropolitan Division, thanks to a 2-1 victory over the Avalanche at Pepsi Center.
Lundqvist made 29 saves in this one, while Ryan McDonagh provided a pair of assists. Avs goalie Reto Berra made 31 saves.
The Rangers are now 9-2-2 on the year. They’ve won their last four straight and are 6-0-2 in their last eight. The Avalanche fall to 4-9-1.

Ryan Getzlaf, C, Anaheim Ducks: Ducks center Getzlaf and winger Corey Perry were in a helpful mood last night. Each player came up with three assists, helping the Ducks to a 4-2 win over the Blue Jackets at Honda Center.
That makes three wins in a row for Anaheim, who move to 4-7-2 on the year.
Getzlaf needed this game; he was off to the worst beginning of his NHL tenure, with just one assist through eight appearances.
