NHL Daily Updates: Checking in on the Latest News, Daily Schedule and More
November 8, 2015
After a busy Saturday, the NHL is slowing things up a bit this evening, with just four games on the schedule. The good news is that the action begins in the afternoon, so before we get set for those matchups, let’s visit the headlines today and see who everyone’s talking about.
Jeff Carter, C, Los Angeles Kings: It didn’t take long for the Kings to break open their game last night against the Panthers. Carter and two other players scored for L.A. in a 4:18 span, giving the team an eventual 4-1 victory at Staples Center.
This was a nice bounce-back for the Kings, who came into this one as losers of two of three. They’re 9-5-0 overall.

Michal Neuvirth, G, Philadelphia Flyers: Neuvirth is getting pretty good at recording shutouts these days. He put up another one last night against the Jets at MTS Centre, making 28 saves in the 3-0 win. It was Neuvirth’s league-leading third shutout this year.
Regular starter Steve Mason is still getting over an illness, but once he recovers it wouldn’t be surprising to see Neuvirth between the pipes a little more frequently. Philly is 5-6-3 on the year.
Antti Raanta, G, New York Rangers: Raanta almost had himself a shutout last night as well, but settled for a 4-1 victory against the Coyotes on the road. He made 39 saves before Arizona scored with 4.6 seconds left.
Chris Kreider put up a goal and an assist in the win. The Rangers are cruising right now at 7-0-2 in their last nine games.
Sam Bennett, C, Calgary Flames: Last night at Scotiabank Saddledome, the Flames looked pretty good against the Penguins, recording a 5-2 victory. Bennett scored and had an assist, while Johnny Gaudreau put up two goals and a helper. Mikael Backlund was in a giving mood with three assists.
The Flames have won two in a row for the first time this year and now sit at 5-9-1 overall. The Pens are 9-5-0.
