The Minnesota Wild go on the road to face the Carolina Hurricanes in Thursday night action.
A second period scoring burst gave the Minnesota Wild and the Xcel Energy Center fans plenty to celebrate in a 5-3 victory versus the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday that upped their record to 9-3-2. Thomas Vanek paced the scoring charge with a pair of goals with Erik Haula, Chris Porter and Nino Niedderreiter also scoring as the Wild lit the lamp four times in the second while Devan Dubnyk posted 25 stops. The Jets made a game of it early with Bryan Little scoring twice and adding a helper with Blake Wheeler also finding the back of the net but Ondrej Pavelec was touched for four goals on 12 shots before Michael Hutchinson came on to record 15 stops in relief.

The Carolina Hurricanes have endured nothing but frustration when taking the ice New York Rangers. That frustration continued in a 3-0 defeat at Madison Square Garden Tuesday which was loss number 16 in 17 meetings for the Canes. The Rangers received goals from Rick Nash, Jesper Fast and Ryan McDonaugh which was overkill with Henrik Lundqvist between the pipes as the Rangers star brushed aside 33 shots to record his first shutout of the season and push New York’s record to 11-2-2 with his 56th career whitewash. Carolina couldn’t solve Lundqvist but that couldn’t be said for Cam Ward who was charged with all three New York goals on 23 shots. The Canes also struggled with the man advantage with six power plays.
The Wild are 0-4 in their last 4 road games and the under is 2-0-2 in Wild last 4 vs. Metropolitan while the over is 7-1-5 in Wild last 13 road games. The under is 4-0-1 in Hurricanes last 5 vs. Central and the Hurricanes are 5-1 in their last 6 games following a loss of 3 or more goals while the under is 5-1-1 in Hurricanes last 7 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400. The Wild are 4-0 in the last 4 meetings and the under is 5-1-1 in the last 7 meetings in Carolina while the home team is 11-4-1 in the last 16 meetings. When goalies and a line come out I’ll give a pick but I lean Wild…
