NHL Daily Updates: Checking in on the Latest News, Daily Schedule and More
November 12, 2015
After a pretty slow evening last night, the NHL is back in force this evening with 12 games on the schedule. While we’re getting ready for those pucks to drop, let’s check out some of the notable headlines and stats in the news today.
Sidney Crosby, C, Pittsburgh Penguins: It was a wild game last night at Consol Energy Center. The Penguins entered the third period down a goal, but were able to rally and take the win over Montreal 4-3 in a shootout.
Crosby posted a pair of assists and a shootout score, while Patric Hornqvist managed a goal on seven shots. His score in the third tied the game.
Pittsburgh is now 10-5-0 and end their dubious streak of 37 consecutive losses when trailing entering the third period. The Canadiens move to 13-2-2.

Teddy Purcell, RW, Edmonton Oilers: Purcell got to play the hero last night in the NHL’s other game--this one didn’t end in regulation either. At 1:16 into overtime Purcell scored to give Edmonton a 4-3 victory over the Ducks at Honda Center. Teammate Ryan Nugent-Hopkins contributed with a goal and an assist.
On the other side, Corey Perry finished with a pair of goals on five shots.
This game was a back-and-forth battle, with the teams combining for four goals in the third period alone.
Anaheim moves to 5-7-4 while the Oilers are now 6-10-0.
Reto Berra will be starting for the Avalanche tonight against Boston. This will be his third straight appearance.
Berra is coming off a shutout over the Flyers and will continue to start while Semyon Varlamov recovers from a groin injury.
