The St Louis Blues welcome the Chicago Blackhawks to the Scottrade Center in Saturday action.
The Chicago Blackhawks have been almost untouchable at home until the New Jersey Devils picked up a 3-2 victory at the United Center on Thursday for their second win versus Chicago this past week. Rookie Sergei Kalinin’s power play tally with 2:27 remaining won it with Adam Henrique and Kyle Palmieri also scoring to make a winner of Cory Schneider and his 27 saves to lead the Devils hot streak to 9-3. The Blackhawks are just 8-7-1 overall and are in a bit of a funk of late with a 2-4-1 record with Patrick Kane being a bright spot with a goal and assist for an eleven game point streak. Artemi Pananrin also scored with Corey Crawford making 19 saves in defeat.

The key to victory for the St Louis Blues is good defense and goaltending to control the scoreboard. That didn’t happen in a 6-3 defeat to the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden on Thursday. The Rangers simply exploded with Kevin Hayes, Ryan McDonagh, Mats Zuccarello, Dan Girardi, Derick Brassard and JT Miller supplying the firepower to make 31 stops by Henrik Lundqvist a winning effort. That was far too much offense for the Blues as Jake Allen gave up three goals on just five shots before having a seat on the bench with backup Brian Elliott allowing two more. The Blues saw Dmitrij Jaskin, Vladimir Taraseko and Troy Brouwer light the lamp but it wasn’t nearly enough.
The over is 5-0-1 in Blackhawks last 6 overall and the Blackhawks are 4-0 in their last 4 Saturday games while going 0-5 in their last 5 road games. The under is 5-0-3 in Blues last 8 home games and the Blues are 4-0 in their last 4 vs. Central while the under is 5-0 in Blues last 5 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400. The over is 4-1-2 in the last 7 meetings in St. Louis and the Blackhawks are 2-7 in the last 9 meetings in St. Louis while the over is 7-3-3 in the last 13 meetings. I’m still waiting for goalies but I lean St Louis…
