We’ve got a packed NHL schedule headed our way this evening: there are nine games for us to look forward to. In the meantime, let’s take our daily look at the headlines and see which stats and players are in the news.
Mark Scheifele, C, Winnipeg Jets: Both Scheiffele and Drew Stafford each had two goals and an assist last night against the Canucks at MTS Centre, leading to a 4-1 Jets victory.
The win ends a six-game losing streak for Winnipeg, who get a victory for the first time since November 5. They’re 9-9-2 on the season.
Ondrej Pavelec played well on the defensive side with 29 saves on 30 shots.
As for the Canucks, they’ve lost four straight games (0-3-1).

Evgeny Kuznetsov, C, Washington Capitals: Kuznetsov bagged a goal last night 45 seconds into overtime, pushing the Capitals to a 2-1 victory against the Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena.
Braden Holtby won this goalie battle, bagging 25 saves on 26 shots. Petr Mrazek had 25 saves on 27 shots on the other side.
Justin Williams and Dylan Larkin had the other two goals.
Detroit is now 9-8-2 on the year, while the Caps improve to 12-4-1 thus far.
Artemi Panarin, LW, Chicago Blackhawks: goaltender Corey Crawford put up a strong game behind the Chicago offense, and the defending champions were able to get out of Edmonton with a victory 4-3 in overtime last night.
Panarin logged a goal and two assists, while Marian Hossa had the game-winner. Crawford put up 29 saves.
Chicago is now 11-7-1 on the season. The Oilers have lost their last three and are 6-12-1 on the year thus far.
