The Penguins look for their second straight win after a convincing effort their last time out as they welcome the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday night.
The Avalanche head into Pittsburgh looking to climb out of the Central division basement with a victory but the team hasn't been able to string together any sense of consistent play this season and as such they are likely to miss out on the playoffs if they can't rectify it soon. Nathan Mackinnon has been brilliant so far this season and if the other offensive heavyweights can help out than the Avs could very well jump back into contention but on the whole it seems like they are missing a piece or two and haven't really been able to fill the void left by Paul Stastny two seasons ago. Reto Berra continues to get starter's minutes and he will face off against Marc-Andre Fleury.

The Penguins are 7-3 in their last 10 contests and are coming off a big home ice win against the Wild which is exactly what this group needed after a lackluster start had them itching for offensive production. Evgeni Malkin was the first to publicly criticize the group and they responded in a big way against the Wild and now they have a chance to keep it rolling with a big home ice win against the Avalanche. I feel like the Penguins are back on the right track now and for their sake I hope the offensive flood gates are open and that they continue that here against the Avs.
