We’ve got a pretty busy NHL schedule coming up tonight, with seven matchups on the slate. While we’re waiting on those to get going, let’s visit some of the notable players and situations out there in our daily wrap-up.

Justin Faulk, D, Carolina Hurricanes: The ‘Canes edged out the Kings 4-3 yesterday in Raliegh, with two of their defensemen combining for three goals and an assist. Faulk had two of those scores, while Brett Pesce added the other score and the helper. Kris Versteeg also contributed a pair of assists himself.
The Hurricanes entered this game as the lowest-scoring team in the league, but somehow have managed to put up a 10-7-3 record.

Joe Pavelski, C, San Jose Sharks: Over at Nationwide Arena, the Sharks posted a 5-3 win over the Blue Jackets. Pavelski logged a pair of goals, including an empty-netter that sealed the win. Patrick Marleau also contributed a goal and a helper here.
The Sharks are now 13-8-0 on the season and ended their six-game road trip with a perfect record. The Jackets fell to 8-14-0 and blew a 3-1 lead in this one.

Mike Cammalleri, LW, New Jersey Devils: Cory Schneider got his first win at Rogers Arena since being traded away back in 2013 when the Devils took a 3-2 victory against the Canucks last night.
Cammalleri posted a goal and two assists to help out Schneider, who had 36 saves on 38 shots.
The Devils are 11-8-1 and finish their Western Canadian road trip on a high note. The Canucks are 8-8-6 and have just one win in their past six.

Alex Galchenyuk, C, Montreal Canadiens: The Canadiens posted a come-from-behind win over the Islanders last night to sweep the season series between the two teams.
Galchenyuk put up a power-play goal with 3:29 left in the third to help secure the 4-2 win.
It’s not all good news for Montreal, however. They lost RW Brendan Gallagher, who has two broken fingers in his left hand. He was hit while blocking a slap shot in the second period. He’ll get surgery today and is without a timetable for return.
