NHL Daily Updates: Checking in on the Latest News, Daily Schedule and More
November 24, 2015
The NHL will be slowing down pretty significantly tonight as the league gets geared up for tomorrow’s heavy schedule. There will be just four teams out on the ice this evening, but we’ve still got plenty to talk about in the meantime. Let’s check out some of the key players in the morning headlines.
Henrik Lundqvist, G, New York Rangers: Lundqvist was stellar last night against the Predators at the Garden, snagging saves on all 31 shots for his second shutout of the year in a 3-0 result. He’s got an NHL-best GAA (1.74) and save percentage (.946). Lundqvist is also tied for the league lead in wins (12).
The Rangers are 16-3-2 overall. Meanwhile, Nashville hasn’t scored a goal in the past 213:47.

Shayne Gostisbehere, D, Philadelphia Flyers: Yesterday’s only game that ended in overtime went to the Flyers, as they took out the Hurricanes 3-2 on a Gostisbehere goal 24 seconds into the extra period. Claude Giroux added a goal and two assists for Philly.
The Flyers blew a 2-0 lead in this one, but were able to improve to 7-9-5 and halt a three-game losing streak.
Braden Holtby, G, Washington Capitals: Holtby was great against the Oilers last night, winning a goalie duel 1-0. He snagged all 33 shots that came his way; on the other side, Anders Nilsson put up 29 saves but couldn’t keep Dmitry Orlov from banging one in during the third period.
Washington is now 14-5-1, and the Oilers fall to 7-13-1. Holtby has 12 wins in just 16 starts this year.
Cody McLeod, LW, Colorado Avalanche: The Avalanche kicked things into high gear last night during the third period against the Jets, scoring three times en route to a 4-1 win at MTS Centre.
McLeoud’s goal broke the 1-1 tie; it was his fifth goal of the year. Matt Duchene also score here; he’s got 11 on the season and a seven-game points streak with seven scores and six helpers in that span.
The Avs are 8-12-1 this year, and the Jets fall to 10-10-2.
