NHL Daily Updates: Checking in on the Latest News, Daily Schedule and More
December 3, 2015
We’ve got a pretty busy evening of hockey coming up in the NHL, with eight games on the schedule. While we’re waiting on those pucks to drop, let’s visit with some of the notable players and stats in our daily wrap-up.
Drew Stafford, RW, Winnipeg Jets: Yesterday’s only blowout belonged to the Jets: a 6-1 victory over the Maple Leafs at MTS Centre.
Stafford scored twice on four shots, while Mark Scheifele posted a goal and two assists. Connor Hellebuyck had saves on 32 of 33.
The Jets were on a 3-8-1 skid coming into this one. They played 10 of their 14 November games on the road.

John Tavares, C, New York Islanders: Yesterday’s Isles-Rangers matchup was a great one. We had to go to a shootout to find a winner, and the Islanders took it in three rounds 2-1.
Tavares scored here, and Jaroslav Halak made 33 saves on 34 shots. His counterpart Henrik Lundqvist posted 36 saves on 37 shots.
The Isles are now 14-8-4, while the Rangers stand at 17-6-3 and are just 1-3-1 in their last five games.
Anders Nilsson, G, Edmonton Oilers: The other shootout yesterday was between the Oilers and Bruins. The Oilers prevailed here 3-2, and Nilsson was a busy guy with 38 saves on 40 shots. Tuukka Rask posted 34 saves on 36 shots for the Bruins.
Matt Hendricks and Mark Letestu each put up a goal and an assist.
The Oilers are on something of a roll right now. They’ve won two of their past three and are 9-15-2 on the year.
Ben Bishop, G, Tampa Bay Lightning: Yet another close game on last night’s slate happened between the Ducks and Lightning. Bishop made 32 saves in the 2-1 victory at Honda Center, while Jonathan Drouin posted a goal and an assist on the game-winner.
Tampa Bay has been great against the Ducks lately. They’ve won four straight in this matchup and haven’t lost to them in regulation in nine years.
The Lightning are 12-11-3; the Ducks are 9-12-5.
