Our busy stretch run of NHL games continues tonight with seven matchups on the schedule. Let’s take our daily look at some of the key players out there before we settle in for the puck drops.

Semyon Varlamov, G, Colorado Avalanche: Varlamov continued the trend of holding the Rangers to a low score lately, allowing just one late goal in a 2-1 Colorado win at the Garden last night. He made 24 saves all together.
Matt Duchene and Chris Wagner each scored here, and the Avs have now won back-to-back road games after beginning their four-game trip with a loss. They’re currently 11-14-1 on the season.
The Rangers are in a tailspin right now, losing for the fifth time in six games to slip to 17-7-3.

Mike Cammalleri, LW, New Jersey Devils: Over at PNC Arena last night, Cammalleri came up with two goals and an assist to lead the Devils to a 5-1 victory over the Hurricanes.
John Moore chipped in with two assists, while Keith Kinkaid posted 30 saves.
The Devils are now 13-10-2 on the season. Cammalleri leads the team with 26 points and five 3-point games, which is tops in the league.

Mike Hoffman, LW, Ottawa Senators: Hoffman got to play the hero last night against the Blackhawks at Canadian Tire Centre, posting the game-winning goal in overtime for a 4-3 victory. He had two goals and an assist in all.
Bobby Ryan also helped out with a goal and two assists, while Patrick Kane continued his points streak on the other side with a goal and two assists as well.
Kane is now tied with Bobby Hull for the franchise record 21-game points streak.

Jimmy Howard, G, Detroit Red Wings: Detroit bagged a convincing victory last night against the Coyotes at Joe Louis Arena. They came away with a 5-1 win, and Howard held down the fort on 26 saves.
Detroit now has at least a point in each of their last nine games. Their season record stands at 14-8-4.
The Coyotes are now 13-11-1 on the year.
