The Minnesota Wild welcome the Colorado Avalanche to the Xcel Energy Center Saturday.
The Colorado Avalanche stay on the road after squeezing by the New York Rangers 2-1 on Thursday night. The Avalanche have won back to back games as they head to Minnesota thanks to goals from Chris Wagner and Matt Duchene while Semyon Varlamov was strong in the nets with a 24 save performance as the Avs improved to 11-14-1. The Rangers are in a bit of a funk with losses in five of six as the offense struggled and the defense couldn’t hold the fort. New York scored with 50 seconds remaining and goalie Antti Raanta pulled for the extra attacker. Raanta recorded 16 saves in the loss with New York dropping to 17-7-3.

The Minnesota Wild turned to their defense and goaltending to earn a 1-0 victory versus the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday night that put an end to a three game skid at the Xcel Energy Center. Matt Dumba scored the Minnesota goal and goalie Devan Dubnyk earned the win as brushed aside 28 Toronto shots on the way to his 4th shutout of the season which tops the NHL. The Maple Leafs appeared to have scored with around four minutes remaining but Peter Holland’s tally was waved off as replay showed he was offside. James Reimer was the tough luck loser with 27 stops as Toronto fell to 8-13-5.
The over is 5-0-1 in Avalanche last 6 Saturday games and the Avalanche are 7-1 in their last 8 vs. Central while going 6-1 in their last 7 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game. The under is 2-0-2 in Wild last 4 games following a win and is 5-1-1 in Wild last 7 games playing on 1 days rest while going 4-1-3 in Wild last 8 Saturday games. The Avalanche are 1-7 in the last 8 meetings and are 1-5 in the last 6 meetings in Minnesota while the under is 4-1-1 in the last 6 meetings. The trends favor the Wild and under but I need to see who is in goal…
