The Boston Bruins pay a visit to the Consol Energy Center to take the ice with the Pittsburgh Penguins Friday.
The Boston Bruins are trying to make a return to the elite status they enjoyed two seasons ago and took another step in that direction with a 3-0 victory versus the Pittsburgh Penguins at TD Garden on Wednesday night. The Bruins might be heading in that direction as winners in three of four that pushed their record to 17-9-4.

Jimmy Hayes scored and added an assist while Max Talbot supplied also lit the lamp to provide Boston with all the offense they needed before Ryan Spooner found the empty net to extinguish any hopes the Penguins had of a last minute comeback. The real star of the contest for the Bruins was Tuukka Rask who brushed aside all 34 shots he faced.
While Boston is looking to string together some wins the Pittsburgh Penguins would probably settle for just a win right now with the team mired in a five game slide which has them staring at a 15-12-3 record. New head coach Mike Sullivan is 0-2 so far and probably most concerned about the one goal the Pens have scored with him behind the bench.
With Marc-Andre Fleury out with a concussion, Jeff Zalkoff was in the nets and played well with a 26 save performance in a losing performance. Pittsburgh must feel a bit snake bitten as well because they put plenty of rubber on Tuukka Rask with 34 shots with Chris Kunitz and Phil Kessel hitting the post which turned out to be huge for a team not scoring and has some players out.
The under is 6-0 in Bruins last 6 overall and is 4-0 in Bruins last 4 games playing on 1 days rest while going 4-0 in Bruins last 4 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game. The under is 5-0-1 in Penguins last 6 Friday games and the Penguins are 0-4 in their last 4 vs. a team with a winning record while Pittsburgh are 0-5 in their last 5 vs. Eastern Conference. The under is 3-0-2 in the last 5 meetings and the Bruins are 5-1 in the last 6 meetings while the under is 5-1-1 in the last 7 meetings in Pittsburgh. I’m waiting on goalie but I assume a rematch in this home and home set…
