We’ve got a pretty steady run of NHL games coming this week before the league breaks for Christmas, starting with six matchups today. While we’re waiting on those, let’s visit some of the notable players and situations out there right now.

Vladimir Tarasenko, RW, St. Louis Blues: The Flames came into St. Louis last night with a seven-game win streak in tow, but the Blues had something to say about that. Tarasenko scored and had two assists in the 3-2 victory at Scottrade Center yesterday, with goalie Brian Elliott helping out on defense with 36 saves.
The Blues have won six straight against the Flames overall and stand at 20-10-4. Calgary drops to 15-15-2 thus far.

Jonathan Bernier, G, Toronto Maple Leafs: Bernier was on his game last night against the Kings, snagging all 26 shots that came his way for a 5-0 shutout at Air Canada Centre.
Michael Grabner posted four shots on goal with two scores and two assists; Leo Komarov put up two goals with a helper of his own.
Toronto is now 11-13-7 and went 2-0-2 in their four-game home-stand. The Kings are 20-10-2.

Semyon Varlamov, G, Colorado Avalanche: Varlamov was locked in last night as well, and he came away with 39 saves on 40 shots, helping the Avs defeat the Oilers 5-1 at Pepsi Center.
Tyson Barrie, Blake Comeau, Nick Holden, Jarome Iginla and Jack Skille each had a goal for Colorado. They’re now above .500 for the first time this season at 17-16-1. They’re still three points behind the Predators in the Conference.

Jamie Benn, LW, Dallas Stars: Benn has been showing off his skill for most of the season, and last night’s game against the Canadiens at American Airlines Center was no exception.
He scored twice and had an assist with four shots on goal in the 6-2 win. That gives him 22 on the year which leads the NHL. Jason Spezza had three points in this one as well with a goal and two helpers. Tyler Seguin and Patrick Eaves also scored.
Dallas is 24-7-2 and playing well.
