The Line: Tampa Bay Lightning / Ottawa Senators --- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Tampa Bay Lightning have their eyes on a win when the Ottawa Senators come to town.
It’s never a bad thing to get an early lead and make your opponent play catch up the entire game and that’s exactly what the Ottawa Senators did in a 4-2 win versus the San Jose Sharks at the Canadian Tire Centre on Friday night. The Senators lit the lamp three times in the opening period and the Sharks never recovered. Chris Wideman, Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Erik Karlsson led the scoring charge with Bobby Ryan adding a second period tally to support Craig Anderson and his 31 saves hat raised the Sens to 17-11-5. The Sharks saw their two game winning streak end with goals from Brent Burns and Joe Thornton with Alex Stalock allowing four goals on 35 shots as San Jose fell to 16-15-1.

The Washington Capitals proved a hockey game is 60 minutes long in Friday’s 5-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning at the Verizon Center. The Lightning took a 3-0 lead in the second before the Capitals exploded for five goals including a four goal burst in the third. Andrej Sustr, Alex Killorn and Stamkos gave the Lightning a 3-0 lead with Ben Bishop recording 31 saves as Tampa Bay dropped to 16-14-3. The Capitals received a pair of goals each from TJ Oshie and Alex Ovechkin while both added two assists as well. Marcus Johansson also lit the lamp but Braden Holtby gave up all three goals on 12 shots and was pulled in favor of Philipp Grubauer who stopped all seven shots he saw to help the Caps improve to 23-6-2.
The under is 5-0 in Senators last 5 Sunday games and is 4-0 in Senators last 4 games following a win while the Senators are 0-6 in their last 6 Sunday games. The under is 8-1-3 in Lightning last 12 home games and is 5-1 in Lightning last 6 after allowing 5 goals or more in their previous game while going is 9-2-2 in Lightning last 13 games playing on 1 days rest. The under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings and the Senators are 2-6 in the last 8 meetings in Tampa Bay while the under is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings in Tampa Bay.
