The Pittsburgh Penguins will be looking for a win when the Columbus Blue Jackets visit Monday.
The Columbus Blue Jackets and Philadelphia Flyers can use as many wins as possible right now but it was the CBJ that got one Saturday in a 3-2, shootout decision at Nationwide Arena. Both teams leaned on their defense with Brandon Dubinsky soring the winner in the SO. The Blue Jackets received goals from Brandon Saad and Ryan Murray in regulation while Joonas Korpisalo picked up the win with 30 stops as Columbus improved to 13-19-3. Steve Laughton and Jacob Voracek lit the lamp for the Flyers while Steve Mason turned away 35 shots but that wasn’t enough to prevent Philadelphia from falling to 14-12-7 as a two game winning streak ended.

The Pittsburgh Penguins change in head coaches appears to have had no effect as the losses continue to mount. A 2-1 defeat at the Consol Energy Center on Saturday has new HC Mike Sullivan is looking at four defeats in which the offense has scored a mere four goals. Evgeni Malkin scored the lone Pens goal but Matthew Murray’s 24 save performance was a losing one with Pittsburgh looking at a 15-14-3 record and an 0-3-2 mark in their last five contests on home ice. John-Michael Liles and Jordan Staal both scored with the man advantage and Cam Ward came up with a monster 37 save effort to lift the Hurricanes to 13-15-5.
The Blue Jackets are 0-4 in their last 4 Monday games and the over is 3-0-1 in Blue Jackets last 4 road games while the under is 4-0-1 in Blue Jackets last 5 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game. The Penguins are 0-5 in their last 5 overall and are 0-5 in their last 5 Monday games while going 0-5 in their last 5 games playing on 1 days rest. The Blue Jackets are 5-1 in the last 6 meetings and are 4-9 in the last 13 meetings in Pittsburgh while the over is 20-9 in the last 29 meetings. No goalies confirmed but I would probably look elsewhere given the sorry state of the Pens…
