The Barclays Center and the New York Islanders host the Toronto Maple Leafs Sunday.
The Toronto Maple Leafs entered the Christmas break on a down note in a 3-2 loss to the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday at the Gila River Arena. The Coyotes offensive star was veteran Shane Doan who found the back twice in a span of just 14 seconds of the first period. Connor Murphy also scored off of an assist from Doan to make a winner of Louis Dominigue and his 37 save performance that lifted the Coyotes record to 16-15-2. James van Riemsdyk and Nazem Kadri tallied for the Maple Leafs but that wasn’t enough for Jonathan Bernier who gave up all three goals on 26 shots to fall to 2-9-3 on the season.

Jaroslav Halak was strong between the pipes with 27 stops that upped the Islanders to 19-11-5. The Ducks received goals from Josh Manson and Carl Hagelin but Frederik Anderson struggled in the nets with three goals allowed on eleven shots before John Gibson came on to brush aside all 18 shots that he saw but the damage had been done.
