NHL Daily Updates: Checking in on the Latest News, Daily Schedule and More
December 30, 2015
After a busy NHL evening last night, we’re in for a relatively light schedule ahead of us, with just five matchups on tonight’s slate. While we’re waiting on those pucks to drop, let’s check out some of the notable players and stats out there.
Jimmy Hayes, RW, Boston Bruins: The Bruins didn’t have a whole lot of trouble last night against the Senators at TD Garden. Hayes bagged the first hat trick of his NHL tenure in the 7-3 win, while Patrice Bergeron and Matt Beleskey each scored twice to account for the other goals.
Tuukka Rask held it down with 29 saves on the defensive side, and the Bruins move to 20-12-4 on the year.

John Tavares, C, New York Islanders: Tavares came into last night’s game against the Maple Leafs with no goals in six games, but he was able to break that trend with a goal and an assist in a 6-3 win at Air Canada Centre.
Both Frans Neilsen and Anders Lee each snagged a goal and a helper as well.
Tavares now has 19 points in his last dozen games at Air Canada Centre, which is the most by a visitor since 2009.
Jonathan Quick, G, Los Angeles Kings: The Kings got some nice efforts across the board last night against the Oilers at Rexall Place. Quick made 42 saves on 44 shots in the 5-2 victory, which moves the Kings to 23-11-12 on the year.
Dustin Brown provided a goal and two assists, while Dwight King scored and had a helper of his own.
L.A. has a three-game win streak in tow now, and an 11-point lead in the division.
Patrick Kane, RW, Chicago Blackhawks: The Blackhawks offense woke up last night against the Coyotes at Gila River Arena, taking a 7-5 victory after back-to-back losses.
Kane snagged a goal and an assist, as did Duncan Keith. The team was 3-of-3 on their first power plays, which propelled them to the win.
Shane Doan put up a hat trick on nine shots in the loss.
