The Stars look to kick off the new year with a bang as they head into New Jersey to battle the surprising Devils on Saturday night.
The Dallas Stars finished off 2015 with a victory that was one of many for them in this calendar year and they will look to start 2016 in the same manner as they head into New Jersey to battle Corey Schneider and the Devils. Dallas was expected to do some damage this season after some big time acquisitions in the off season but not many expected they would in the lead in the Western Conference at the turn of the calendar and in the race for the President’s Trophy and if they get a win tonight it would lock up their 29th of the season and keep them atop the league standings. Kari Lehtonen is expected to start as he will go up against Schneider for the Devils.

New Jersey meanwhile sits in fourth place in the log jammed Metropolitan division and while many expect they will fall by the way side in the second half of the season there is no telling how far the team can go with one of the league’s best goaltenders. The Devils enter this one with an 8-8-3 record at home and host a Stars group that is a ridiculous 12-4-3 on the road so they know it’ll be a tough out regardless but with an edge in the crease the Devils always have a chance to grab two points. However, the Stars have too much depth and fire power for my liking in this one and while I have been a big supporter of the Devils this season I just don’t see them keeping up in this one.
