January 4, 2016
It was a pretty good weekend for NHL hockey action, and there are five more games coming up tonight. In the meantime, let’s take our daily look at what’s happening around the league.
Kyle Okposo, RW, NY Islanders: If you like offensive hockey, this was the game for you. Okposo scored twice and also tallied an assist yesterday at Barclays Center against the Stars, helping his team to a 6-5 victory. Cal Clutterbuck also scored twice for the Isles, and he came into the day as a game-time decision.
New York scored three times on 20 shots in a big second period, breaking open what was a 2-2 game.

Jaromir Jagr, RW, Florida Panthers: Not to be outdone, Jagr also scored twice, tallying both goals for his team in a 2-1 win at BB&T Center against the Wild.
Al Montoya held it down in net with 39 saves on 40 shots, while Dmitry Kulikov posted two assists.
The Panthers are currently sitting on a franchise-record nine-game winning streak. That brings them to 23-12-4 on the season. The Wild are 20-11-7 thus far.
Corey Crawford, G, Chicago Blackhawks: Crawford was playing in his 300th NHL game yesterday, and it was quite a memorable occasion for him. He posted a shutout on 26 saves here, helping his team to a 3-0 victory against the Senators.
Crawford now leads the league with six shutouts this season. He’s been great at home lately, allowing one or fewer goals in six of his past nine games at the UC. He’s posted four shutouts in that span.
Rickard Rakell, C, Anaheim Ducks: The Ducks have had some trouble finding their offense lately, but it was there yesterday against the Jets at Honda Center.
Rakell posted a goal and an assist with three shots on goal in the 4-1 victory. Kevin Bieksa also had the exact same line while John Gibson came up with 19 saves on 20 shots.
The Ducks are 16-15-7 on the year. It was just the third time since November 30 that they’ve scored more than two goals.
