NHL Daily Updates: Checking in on the Latest News, Daily Schedule and More
January 7, 2016
We’ve got a pretty full night of NHL action coming our way, as there are seven games on the schedule. While we’re waiting on those, let’s check out some of the hot-topic players in the headlines right now.
Max Pacioretty, LW, Montreal Canadiens: The Canadiens and Devils’ special teams were squaring off at Bell Centre in Montreal last night, and Montreal came out on top 2-1.
Pacioretty scored on a power play in the first period, and Torrey Mitchell scored shorthanded in the second.
Mike Condon put up 19 saves for the Canadiens, who are now 23-16-3 on the season. It was their first home game in nearly three weeks.

Artemi Panarin, LW, Chicago Blackhawks: The rookie Panarin has been playing great for the Blackhawks recently. He bagged another two goals on four shots last night at United Center, helping the Blackhawks put away the Penguins 3-1.
Chicago sweeps a home-and-home from the Pens; they also won Tuesday at Consol Energy Center 3-2 in overtime.
Marc-Andre Fleury had 34 saves in this one for Pittsburgh.
The Blackhawks are now 25-13-4 on the year.
Bo Horvat, C, Vancouver Canucks: Horvat had three 1-on-1 chances against Eddie Lack last night in the first period alone, but came up short. His rate improved later in the game, however, as he scored two goals to lead Vancouver over Carolina 3-2 at Rogers Arena.
Sven Baertschi scored and had an assist here as well. As for Horvat, he had just come off a 27-game goal drought that he snapped on Monday.
The Canucks are 5-2-1 in their past eight and 16-16-9 overall.
P.A. Parenteau, RW, Toronto Maple Leafs: Everyone’s talking about Parenteau today, as he had a great night at Honda center against the Ducks.
Parenteau scored twice on four shots to help the Leafs to a 4-0 victory, while Jonathan Bernier put up 39 saves in the shutout.
Bernier has won three straight and is 6-2-2 in the last 10. The Ducks outshot the Leafs 18-8 in the first period but couldn’t sustain any momentum.
