The Blues look to shake off back to back shootout losses and a slew of injuries as they head into Los Angeles to battle the Kings on Saturday night.
The St. Louis Blues managed to earn a single point on the road in Anaheim last night but it did come at a cost as Jay Bouwmeester, Jake Allen, and Paul Stastny all left the game with injury and their status for this one is up in the air. The Blues have been a tad inconsistent this season and while they are very much in the fold in the competitive Central division sitting in third with a 23-14-6 record but surprisingly have a negative goal differential. St. Louis has been known to be stingy in the defensive zone and possess a ton of depth in the offensive zone but things have been a bit tamer this year and unless they go out and make a splash at the trade deadline I think they could be in a tough spot once again this season.

The Kings meanwhile are cruising along in the Pacific division as they hold a 10 point lead over the Arizona Coyotes for first place and have a very respectable 26-12-2 record through their first 40 contests. LA has become one of the model franchises in the NHL over the last five or six years as they have a couple of Stanley Cups and some very successful seasons under their belt and they look poised to once again make a deep run this year. They are without question the best the Pacific has to offer which in the new playoff format looks like they are on an easy path to the Western Conference final but then again some of the Central division contenders may have something to say about that. As for tonight, this looks like a great spot for LA to make a statement as the Blues are short handed and playing in a back to back.
