The Devils look to get back in the win column after an ugly loss in St. Louis their last time out as they head into Colorado to battle the Avalanche.
The New Jersey Devils have been one of the league’s bigger surprises this season as they currently sit in fourth place in the Metro and are just a point out of a playoff spot heading into action tonight. The Devils are 21-18-5 this season and have had pretty good success in their own end but their down fall as expected heading into the year was scoring goals as they are tied for the third lowest tally in the NHL and heading into the playoffs that has to change. Cory Schneider continues to prove he is one of the best goalies in the league and he will be leaned on big time in this one as the Avalanche are starting to play desperate hockey as they look to get back in the playoff push in the Western Conference.

The Avalanche are sitting in sixth place in the Central but are seven points back of the fourth place Wild and 17 back of the division leading Stars which has them in a tough spot for the postseason as the West is very competitive. Colorado is 21-20-3 this season and haven’t quite lived up to the billing in the preseason as they were expected to make some strides after a down year last season but for one reason or another they just don’t seem to be there quite yet. They have a ton of talent in the offensive zone and some serviceable pieces on the blue line but on the whole they aren’t up to speed with some of the top end teams in the division and as such I think they fall short of the second season. As for tonight, I love the value here on the Devils as they are just as good if not better overall and have a huge edge in the crease.
