NHL Daily Updates: Checking in on the Latest News, Daily Schedule and More
January 15, 2016
We’ve got a pretty good night ahead of us in the NHL, with six matchups on the schedule. Let’s check out some of the notable players and stats in the headlines in our daily wrap-up.
Nick Leddy, D, New York Islanders: Last night’s Battle of New York ended up being pretty one-sided after the first two periods. Leddy snagged a power play goal, and Brock Nelson scored 2:24 after him to secure a 3-1 win over the Rangers.
With the win, the Isles moved past their in-city foes for second in the Metropolitan Division. The Islanders are 24-14-5; that’s one more win than the Rangers.

Evgeny Kuznetsov, C, Washington Capitals: Kuznetsov was great last night against the Canucks at Verizon Center. He posted two goals and an assist with six shots in a 4-1 victory. His antics included a backhanded pass that went behind the net and toward a Tom Wilson goal in the third period.
Braden Holtby was solid in net here, with 29 saves on 30 shots. He’s got a 22-game points streak going.
Corey Crawford, G, Chicago Blackhawks: Last night was something of a historic evening for the NHL. Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville passed Al Arbour for second place all time in career victories, thanks to a 2-1 win over the Canadiens in Montreal.
Crawford helped out tremendously, snagging 39 saves on 40 shots. That brings the defending champs’ win streak to nine games. They’re currently 29-13-4 and tied with Dallas for the Western Conference lead (62 points).
Danny Dekeyser, D, Detroit Red Wings: Dekeyser got to play the hero last night in Glendale, posting a goal in overtime for a 3-2 Red Wings victory. It was his only shot of the game.
Pavel Datsyuk was instrumental in this one as well. He had a goal on four shots with two assists. Both of the Red Wings’ regulation goals came on the power play late in the third period.
Detroit went 5-1-0 on their road trip; they’re 23-14-7 overall.
