We’ve got a busy nine-game set in the NHL tonight, so get your hockey fix in before the league shuts down for the All-Star break later this week. In the meantime, let’s visit today’s headlines in our morning wrap-up.
Justin Abdelkader, LW, Detroit Red Wings: Abdelkader scored in the second period last night against the Islanders. His was the go-ahead goal in a 4-2 victory at Barclays Center.
Brad Richards, Luke Glendening and Danny DeKeyser each scored for Detroit, who is now 25-16-8 after winning seven of eight road games heading into the break.
Petr Mrazek also had a nice effort here on 27 saves.

Zdeno Chara, D, Boston Bruins: Chara had a pair of assists last night, helping his team to a 3-2 win over the Flyers at Wells Fargo Center.
Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand each had a power-play goal in the first period, while Tuukka Rask posted 34 saves.
Wayne Simmonds put up two goals on nine shots on the other side.
The Bruins are now 26-17-5 on the season.
Derick Brassard, C, New York Rangers: The Rangers have looked pretty bad lately, but they put together a nice game against the Sabres last night. Brassard had five points on two goals and three assists, propelling the team to a 6-3 win at Madison Square Garden.
Zemgus Girgensons posted a pair of goals on two shots for the Sabres.
The Rangers don’t play again until February 2, which will give them some time to work out their recent struggles. They’re 27-17-5.
Cam Atkinson, RW, Columbus Blue Jackets: Atkinson bagged himself a hat trick last night against the Canadiens at Nationwide Arena.
It was part of a 5-2 victory. Brandon Saad chipped in with two goals on five shots while Brandon Dubinsky snagged a trio of assists.
As for the Canadiens, they’re 24-21-5 on the year. Brendan Gallagher and P.K. Subban each had a goal and an assist here.
