The San Jose Sharks take the ice at the Honda Center to battle the Anaheim Ducks.
The San Jose Sharks ended the first half of the season with a bang in a 6-1 rout of the Colorado Avalanche at the SAP Center. The surging Sharks were probably sad to see the All Star break as they were a red hot 8-0-2 in their last ten contests. The Sharks received goals from Tomas Hertl, Melker Karlsson, Joe Pavelski, Dylan DeMelo, Joe Ward and Paul Martin to make Martin Jones 21 saves a winning effort and raise SJ to 26-18-4. The Avalanche offense came off the stick of Nathan MacKinnon with Calvin Pickard allowing four goals on 20 shots as Colorado’s four game winning streak came to a halt.

The Anaheim Ducks also ended the first half of the season with an impressive victory as they downed the Boston Bruins 6-2 for win number three in a row. David Perron, Ryan Kessler, Corey Perry and Shea Theodore each scored and added a helper with Kevin Bieksa and Mike Santorelli also scoring. Frederik Anderson recorded 32 saves to help lift the Ducks to 22-18-7. Zdeno Chara and Zach Trotmanlit the lamp for the Bruins with Matt Belesky assisting on each. Jonas Gustavsson gave up a pair of goals on 16 shots before illness forced him to the bench in favor of Tuukka Rask who allowed three goals on 22 shots as the Bruins dropped to 26-18-5.
