The New York Rangers headed in to the All Star break with what they hope was a momentum building 6-3 rout of the Buffalo Sabres at Madison Square Garden. Derrick Brassard enjoyed a monster game with a pair of tallies and three helpers while JT Miller, Viktor Stalberg, Dylan McIlrath and Mats Zuccarello also scoring. Henrik Lundqvist stopped 23 shots to lift New York to 27-17-5. Zemgus Girgensons scored twice for the Sabres with Jack Eichel posting assists on both. Chad Johnson struggled in the nets with five goals allowed on 32 shots with Buffalo to 19-26-4.

The Pittsburgh Penguins went in to the All Star break riding the momentum of a three game winning streak following a 2-0 victory versus the New Jersey Devils at the Consol Energy Cennter. Marc-Andre Fleury was the star of the game as he brushed aside 25 shots for his 4th whitewash of the season and number 42 of his career. The Penguins received goals from Phil Kessel and Sydney Crosby to up their record to 24-17-7. The Devils offense never got going and Cory Schneider was unable to carry the load all by his lonesome with both goals allowed on 31 shots as the Devils four game winning streak came to an end and dropped the team to 25-20-5.
