The Edmonton Oilers began the second half of the season with a splash in a 5-1 rout of the Columbus Blue Jackets Tuesday night at Rexall Place. This game featured the long awaited return of Connor McDavid who had missed 37 games with a fractured clavicle. McDavid didn’t disappoint with a goal and a pair of assists with Jordan Eberle, Eric Gryba, Benoit Pouliot and Leon Draisaitl also lighting the lamp. Cam Talbot recorded 36 stops as the Oilers halted a three game skid and improved to 20-26-5. The Blue Jackets lone goal came off the stick of Matt Calvert with Joonas Korpisalo stopping 30 shots as Columbus fell to 19-28-5.
