The Capitals head into Nashville on Tuesday night looking to win their fourth game in a row and eighth in the last 10 against a Preds side that is struggling to stay afloat in the Central division.
The Capitals have been the class of the Eastern Conference for most of the season and they haven’t skipped a beat since the all-start break and currently hold a 15 point lead over second place New York in the Metro division. Washington is a very well balanced side and can beat you across all four lines and with Braden Holtby having a Vezina type season the Caps are really going to be tough to beat heading into the Eastern Conference playoffs. Washington will look to go to 19-5-2 on the road this season as they turn to Holtby who will face off against Pekka RInne who hasn’t had a very strong campaign while the Preds have logged a 14-9-3 mark at home.

The Predators head into tonight’s game looking to trim the deficit in the Central division standings as they currently trail the Blues by 10 points but do have two games in hand. Nashville still hasn’t been able to find an identity in the offensive zone and while Filip Forsberg looked to have rectified that issue at the start of last season things have cooled down this year for the Swedish national and on the year the Preds are a minus-two in goal differential. Nashville is in jeopardy of missing the playoffs as only nine points separate them in fourth to the Jets in seventh and things will come down to the wire for the wild card spots as it looks like the top three in the division are locked up. Nashville is a pretender in my eyes and I think we see that in this one against the cream of the East.
