We have a downright huge NHL lineup coming today, kicking off a very exciting weekend. Let’s check out some of the notable players and stats in the headlines in our daily wrap-up.
Marcus Foligno, LW, Buffalo Sabres: The goals were flying like crazy last night at First Niagara Center, with Buffalo coming out on top 6-4 over the Canadiens.
The Sabres scored twice in the first, three times in the second (as did Montreal) and once in the third to put it away.
Foligno had two goals and an assist, while Evander Kane scored twice as well.
With the win, the Sabres hit the 50-point mark at 22-28-6 while the Canadiens are 27-25-4 with 58 points.

Anze Kopitar, C, Los Angeles Kings: We had a wild game at Madison Square Garden last night in a Stanley Cup Finals rematch from a few years back.
The Kings came out on top in this one, scoring in the final minute of regulation to tie it up, then bagging the OT goal for the 5-4 victory.
Kopitar logged a hat trick, while Drew Doughty came up with a pair of assists. The Kings outshot the Rangers 34-28.
The Rangers fall to 31-18-6 but get the point for 68 total. The Kings are 33-18-3 with 69 points.
Vladimir Tarasenko, RW, St. Louis Blues: The Blues outscored the Panthers 3-1 in the first period last night at BB&T Center, riding that wave to a 5-3 victory in Sunrise.
Tarasenko posted a goal and an assist, as did Jason Schwartz. Jonathan Huberdeau also accomplished that feat on the other side.
With the victory, the Blues now have 71 points and sit at 31-17-9. The Panthers have 70 points at 32-17-6.
Shane Doan, RW, Arizona Coyotes: Doan helped the Coyotes to a 4-1 victory last night against the Flames at Gila River Arena, scoring twice and providing an assist. He now has 21 goals on the season. Michal Stone also provided a pair of assists here.
Louis Domingue held it down in goal with 26 saves on 27 shots.
The Coyotes improve to 25-23-6 with 56 points; the Flames are 25-26-3 with 53 points on the year so far.
