The Maple Leafs look to build on their win in Vancouver on Saturday as they continue their road trip in Chicago against the defending champs.
The Toronto Maple Leafs got back in the win column in one of their most complete team wins of the season as they upended the Vancouver Canucks by a 5-2 final but still sit in the league basement with 49 points. The Buds are in the running for the top draft pick which would be used to select Auston Matthews which would be a huge piece for this rebuilding franchise that could use a new face and while it will be a painful end to the year for Leafs Nation they can be happy that change is on the horizon with William Nylander and Mitch Marner in the junior system. The Buds are in a tough spot here against the West leading Blackhawks and the United Center has been a very tough place to play for visitors this season as Chicago is 21-7-2 at home.

The Hawks fell out of top spot in the Central division thanks to their loss to the Dallas Stars on Saturday and while they are tied in terms of points they have played three additional games and do not control their own destiny at this point. The Blackhawks couldn’t keep up offensively with Dallas and after Chicago dropped a 3-2 decision to the Ducks in their last outing they find themselves with an impressive 36-18-5 mark but in second place in the Central. Chicago is due for a break out game offensively and while the Buds will send James Reimer back to the crease I just don’t like the match up for Toronto who should be out of reach by the end of the second.
