We’ve got a nice NHL schedule coming up today, including one big game early this afternoon. In the meantime, let’s catch up on some of the notable players and stats in the news right now.
Joe Colborne, C, Calgary Flames: Colborne scored his ninth goal of the year and also had an assist in last night’s 5-2 win over the Canucks at Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary.
Michael Backlund and Michael Frolik each scored their 10th goals of the year, and each player had a helper as well.
The Flames are now 26-28-3 with 55 points. The Canucks are 22-24-12 with 56 points.

Robin Lehner, G, Buffalo Sabres: Lehner got himself a shutout last night at Nationwide Arena in Columbus. He stopped all 38 shots that came his way, leading the team to a 4-0 win.
Jamie McGinn had a pair of goals here for 14 on the year, and Jack Eichel put up two assists.
The Sabres improve to 24-28-7 with 55 points, and the Jackets fall to 23-29-7 and 53 points thus far.
Jeff Skinner, LW, Carolina Hurricanes: Skinner scored twice in the third period last night at PNC Arena, which helped the ‘Canes to a 5-2 victory. Skinner now has 21 points on the year.
Jordan Staal scored here as well, and also posted an assist. He now has 15 goals on the year.
The Sharks fall to 31-21-5 with the loss (67 points), and the Hurricanes are now 27-22-10 with 64 points.
Jaroslav Halak, G, New York Islanders: Halak got himself a shutout last night at Prudential Center in Newark. He posted saves on all 27 shots against the Devils in a 1-0 victory.
Casey Cizikas had the lone goal here in the first period. He has six scores overall this year.
The Devils were on the defensive most of the game; New York had the edge in PIM 21-2.
The Isles are 31-19-7 with 69 points, and the Devils have 65 points with a 29-23-7 record.
