We’ve got a pretty good lineup of NHL action coming today (even though there are just four games), and there’s plenty to talk about between now and then. For now, let’s check out some of the notable players and stats out there right now.
Kris Letang, D, Pittsburgh Penguins: Letang was in a helpful mood yesterday at First Niagara Center. He logged three assists in the Pens’ 4-3 win over the Sabres.
Phil Kessel scored in the second period for Pittsburgh; it was his 19th goal of the year. Sidney Crosby also bagged an assist.
The Pens are now 30-20-8 with 68 points. The Sabres fall to 24-29-7 with 55 points.

Erik Haula, LW, Minnesota Wild: Haula and Jason Pominville each scored a goal and had two assists last night against the defending champion Blackhawks, leading to a 6-1 victory for the Wild.
Ryan Carter also logged a goal and a helper. On the other side, Patrick Kane scored his 35th goal of the year in the third.
The Wild have a 27-22-10 record with 64 points. The Blackhawks are 38-19-5 with 81 points.
Henrik Lundqvist, G, New York Rangers: The Rangers were able to outlast the Red Wings last night at Madison Square Garden, leading to a 1-0 overtime victory.
Lundqvist had 22 saves in the shutout, out dueling Jimmy Howard, who had 29 saves on 30 shots.
Kevin Klein scored the game winner in the OT session, giving the Rangers 74 points on the year with a 34-19-6 record. The Red Wings have 69 points at 29-20-11.
Ryan Miller, G, Vancouver Canucks: Miller had saves on 37 of 38 shots last night, bagging the win in a 5-2 result over the Avalanche at Rogers Arena.
Janik Hansen had two goals here, and Henrik Sedin put up four assists. The Canucks have 58 points at 23-24-12. The Avs have 66 points with a 31-27-4 record.
