We’ve got a nice six-game NHL schedule ahead of us tonight, so there will be plenty to keep our attention focused. In the meantime let’s check out some of the notable players and situations out there in our daily wrap-up.
Dennis Rasmussen, LW, Chicago Blackhawks: Rasmussen scored the game-winning goal yesterday at United Center against the Capitals, helping the Blackhawks to a 3-2 victory.
The defending champs scored once in each period, jumping out to a 3-1 lead at the 12:47 mark in the third before Evgeny Kuznetsov gained a cosmetic goal at 16:39.
The Blackhawks are now 39-20-5 with 83 points, while the Caps are 45-12-4 at 94 points.

Alex Pietrangelo, D, St. Louis Blues: The Blues pulled off a nice road win last night at PNC Arena in Raleigh, edging the Hurricanes 5-2.
Pietrangelo scored once and had an assist, as did Kyle Brodziak and Jeff Skinner on the other side.
David Backes scored his 16th goal here, and Skinner’s tally was his 22nd on the season.
The Blues are now 36-20-9 with 81 points; the ‘Canes are 28-26-10 at 66 points.
Tomas Hertl, C, San Jose Sharks: Sharks fans who shut the game off after the second period when the Canucks had a 1-0 lead at Rogers Arena last night are sorry they didn’t keep watching this morning.
San Jose tossed up four goals in the final period, leading to a 4-1 victory on the road. Hertl scored once, and Joe Pavelski had a goal and an assist.
The Sharks are now 33-22-6 (72 points), while the Canucks are 24-25-12 (60 points).
Cam Talbot, G, Edmonton Oilers: Talbot stood tall last night at Rexall Place in Edmonton, stopping 36 of 37 shots in a 3-1 victory over the visiting Islanders.
The Oilers scored three times in the third period, coming from behind to get the win. Leon Draisaitl scored his 16th goal of the year here, and Anton Lander managed his first.
The Oilers are now 23-34-7 with 53 points; the Isles are 33-20-7 with 73 points.
