We have a pretty good NHL schedule coming up tonight, and there’s plenty to talk about in the meantime. That said, let’s visit with some of the key stats and players out there and see what’s happening.
Antti Raanta, G, New York Rangers: Raanta very nearly had a shutout last night at the Garden against the visiting Blue Jackets. He snagged 26 of 27 shots in a 2-1 victory.
Helping out on offense were Mats Zuccarello (his 21st) and Derek Stepan, who scored his 14th on a shorthanded opportunity at 17:12 in the third.
The Rangers are now 37-20-6 at 80 points; the Jackets are 26-30-8 at 60 points.

Brayden Schenn, C, Philadelphia Flyers: Schenn bagged a hat trick last night at Wells Fargo Center in Philly, helping the Flyers to a 5-3 victory over the visiting Flames.
Schenn’s goals give him 21 on the season. Claude Giroux also had a big night, assisting on four goals. Wayne Simmonds got his 23rd score of the year in the third as well.
The Flyers are now 29-22-11 with 69 points; the flames have 56 points at 26-32-4.
Patric Hornqvist, RW, Pittsburgh Penguins: Hornqvist had a four-point game last night at Consol Energy Center, scoring a hat trick with an assist in a dominant 6-0 victory over the Coyotes.
Sidney Crosby helped out with three assists here, and Marc-Andre Fleury had 30 saves for the shutout. Pittsburgh scored twice in each period.
The Pens are at 72 points with a 32-21-8 record; the Coyotes are at 60 with 27-30-6 for their current mark.
Joe Thornton, C, San Jose Sharks: The Sharks were at home last night against the visiting Candiens at SAP Center. Thornton had a goal and two assists in the 6-2 win, during which San Jose scored twice in the first, once in the second and three times in the third.
Joe Pavelski and Brent Burns also had three-point games for the Sharks. Pavelski scored twice and Burns had a pair of assists.
The Sharks are 34-22-6 at 74 points; the Canadiens are 30-28-5 with 65 points.
