The Senators look to keep their playoff push intact as they welcome the St. Louis Blues to town on Tuesday night.
The St. Louis Blues head into the Canadian capital on Tuesday night looking to build on their 5-2 win in Raleigh on Sunday and take over top spot in the Central division with a victory as they currently sit two points back of the Blackhawks. The Blues have quietly pieced together a very strong season and have done so through a handful of injuries and while many are talking about the Blackhawks, Stars, and Kings in the Western Conference it wouldn’t be wise to sleep on St. Louis who have the core to go on a serious playoff run. The Blues are 17-9-5 on the road this season and will be sending Jake Allen to the crease who will likely face off against Craig Anderson who will aim to give the Sens their 18th win of the season at the Canadian Tire Centre.

Ottawa meanwhile continues their late season surge at home after a Western Canada road trip and with six wins in their last 10 contests they sit six points back of the Pittsburgh Penguins for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Ottawa is no stranger to these second half runs as they went on a remarkable stretch to close out the regular season in 2014-15 and ended up making the playoffs and while this one isn’t as impressive quite yet they find themselves in a very similar position. The Senators have been very good at home this season and usually get a solid turn out from their fans but against a Cup contender like St. Louis I am not entirely sold they have enough in the tank, especially in their first game back from a road trip. Taking the Blues here.
