The NHL is coming out of a busy Thursday evening, and slowing things down a bit with just three games this evening. This will head up a nice weekend slate, however, so with that said let’s visit with some of the players and stats in the news today.
Patrice Bergeron, C, Boston Bruins: The Bruins got past the Blackhawks last night at TD Garden, outscoring them 2-1 in both the first and second periods for an eventual 4-2 victory.
Bergeron had a goal and an assist, while Tuukka Rask had 25 saves overall.
With the win, the Bruins move to 78 points with a 36-23-6 record. Chicago has 85 points with a 40-21-5 mark.

Marcus Foligno, LW, Buffalo Sabres: The Sabres scored three times in both the second and third periods last night against the Flames, cruising to a 6-3 victory at First Niagara Center.
Foligno scored and had two assists here, while Brian Gionta had two helpers as well.
The win gives Buffalo a 26-31-8 record with 60 points; the Flames have 56 points with a 26-34-4 record.
Evgeni Malkin, C, Pittsburgh Penguins: One of last night’s featured games was between the Pens and the Rangers at Consol Energy Center, where the home team thrashed New York by a score of 4-1.
Malkin bagged two assists and a goal here, while Marcus Fleury stood tall on 27 saves.
The Pens have 74 points with a 33-22-8 record; the Rangers have 80 points at 37-21-6.
Adam Henrique, C, New Jersey Devils: Henrique was the star last night at Bridgestone Arena against the Predators in Nashville. He scored twice here, including the game-winner in overtime for a 5-4 victory. He now has 22 goals on the year.
Filip Forsberg put up a goal and two assists on the other side.
The Predators get the point and have 76 this year at 32-21-12. The Devils have 69 points at 31-27-7.
