The NHL is coming at us today with a six-game schedule, and the action gets started early this evening. That said, let’s check out some of the notable players and stats in the news this morning.
Filip Forsberg, C, Nashville Predators: Forsberg scored and had an assist last night at Pepsi Center, as the Predators beat the Avalanche 5-2.
Nashville scored a whopping four times in the third period, while Colorado could only manage a single goal in the first and the second.
With the win, the Predators move to 33-21-12 at 78 points, while the Avs are 33-30-4 with 70 points.

Jakob Silfverberg, LW, Anaheim Ducks: The Ducks edged out the kings last night at Staples Center, eking out a 3-2 victory.
Silfverberg scored and had an assist, as did Milan Lucic on the other side. Frederik Andersen snagged 32 saves in the win.
That brings the Ducks to 37-19-8 on the season, and the Kings are now 38-22-4. Anaheim has 82 points to L.A.’s 80.
Radko Gudas, D, Philadelphia Flyers: Gudas scored his first and second goals of the season last night against the Blue Jackets (and also bagged a pair of assists) in a 6-0 blowout at Wells Fargo Center.
Philly scored two goals in each period, helping Steve Mason to a 19-save shutout victory.
The Flyers are now 30-23-11 with 71 points; the Jackets have 62 points at 27-31-8.
Alex Tanguay, LW, Arizona Coyotes: The Coyotes were dominant at Gila River Arena last night in Glendale, posting a 5-1 victory over the visiting Panthers.
Tanguay scored twice and had an assist, while teammate Antoine Vermette put up three assists with a goal.
The Coyotes are now 28-31-6 with 62 points. The Panthers are 36-21-8 with 80 points.
