There are eight games on the NHL schedule tonight, so we hockey fans will have a lot to choose from. Before those pucks drop, let’s visit with some of the notable players and stats in the headlines.
Kevin Klein, D, New York Rangers: The Rangers continued their west coast trip with a win last night at Honda Center, bagging a 2-1 result against the Ducks.
Klein scored both goals; he’s now got eight on the season. Tanner Glass, Dominic Moore, J.T. Miller and Eric Staal had assists.
The Rangers are now 40-23-7 with 87 points; the Ducks have 85 points at 38-22-9 on the year.

Mikkel Boedker, LW, Colorado Avalanche: Up at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Boedker scored two goals in a 3-1 victory over the host Canucks. Colorado rang up two goals in the third to secure the victory. As for Boedker, he now has 16 scores on the season.
The Avalanche move to 36-31-4 with the victory; the Canucks have 66 points now on a 27-30-12 record thus far.
Michael Frolik, RW, Calgary Flames: Frolik scored his 15th goal of the season in the first period last night against the Jets at Scotiabank Saddledome, helping his team to a 4-1 victory. He also had a pair of assists on the evening.
Calgary scored three ties in the opening period to set the tone. Sean Monahan bagged his 24th goal of the season in that one.
The Flames are now 30-35-5 with 65 points; the Jets have 63 points at 29-36-5.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, C, Edmonton Oilers: Up at Rexall Place in Edmonton, the Oilers secured a 6-4 victory over the visiting Blues last night, thanks to two goals in the first and three in the second.
Nugent-Hopkins scored twice here, as did David Backes on the other side. Backes now has 19 goals on the year.
The Oilers are 28-38-7 on the year with 63 points; the Blues are 41-22-9 with 91 points.
