Kicking off the weekend tonight, we’ve got six NHL games coming up on the schedule. While we’re getting settled and waiting on those pucks to drop, let’s visit with some of the notable players and stats out there in our daily wrap-up.

Anze Kopitar, C, Los Angeles Kings: Over at Staples Center last night, we got to see a rematch of the NHL Stanley Cup Finals from a couple of years back. The results were the same as well, with the Kings taking a 4-3 overtime win over the Rangers.
Kopitar scored twice in this one, including the game-winner in the OT period. He now has 24 goals on the year.
The Rangers have 88 points at 40-23-8; the Kings have 91 at 43-22-5.

Mike Smith, G, Arizona Coyotes: The Coyotes posted a nice win over the visiting Sharks at Gila River Arena last night, taking it 3-1.
Smith had 27 saves on 28 shots here, while Michael Stone scored and had an assist. Shane Doan also put up his 25th goal of the year.
The Coyotes are now 31-32-7 with 69 points; the Sharks are 39-25-6 with 84 points thus far.

Jamie Benn, LW, Dallas Stars: The Stars got past the Lightning at American Airlines Center last night 4-3, thanks to two goals and an assist from Benn.
Cody Eakin put up three assists, while Steven Stamkos scored twice in the second period for the Lightning. As for Benn, he has 36 goals on the year.
The Stars are now 42-21-9 with 93 points, while the Lightning are close behind with 85 points at 40-26-5.

Ryan Johansen, C, Nashville Predators: Over at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, the Predators were able to take care of the Islanders 4-2 last night. Johansen put up a goal and an assist in the victory, as did James Neal. The Predators outscored the Isles 1-0 in the first and 2-1 in the second.
The Preds are 36-22-13 right now at 85 points; the Isles are 38-22-9 at 85 points.
