The Blackhawks look to build on their big time win over the Jets on Friday as they return home to host the Minnesota Wild on Sunday.
The Wild head into Sunday’s pivotal show down with the defending champions sitting a single point back of the Colorado Avalanche for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference and will look to build on their victory yesterday against the Carolina Hurricanes. Minnesota has a very talented group and deserve a playoff spot but there are a ton of teams with the same credentials and one has to be left out after the 82 game slate and with the way the contenders have been playing of late I think we can expect it to come down to the wire. Minnesota is a modest 15-15-7 on the road this season whereas the Hawks have been lights out at home with a 24-10-2 record and will certainly have the edge on paper in this one.

The Blackhawks continue to prove they are among a handful of teams that should be considered a Cup contender and while their latest win did come against the lowly Winnipeg Jets they completely dominated with their back up goaltender in. Chicago is as good as any team in the Western Conference and a potential seven game set with them against either the Los Angeles Kings or Anaheim Ducks is something to look forward to but they will have to get through the Blues and Stars before that happens. As for tonight though, this game does mean a ton for both and while Minny needs the win more I like the Hawks at home with a day’s rest.
